When answering your assigned questions, we ask that you follow five simple guidelines:
- Good audio
- We recommend using headphones with a built-in microphone to help you monitor what your video sounds like and reduce background noise. Recording sound directly from a phone or tablet can make you sound muffled or emphasize ambient noise.
- Neat handwriting
- It can be hard for students to learn the concept that you are teaching if they have to decode your handwriting while listening to you. We recommend using a stylus on a tablet or drawing pad of your choice.
- Thorough explanation of the solution
- This is what teachers do best! Make sure you explain each step in detail – you never know what the viewer’s experience is with the topic or example. If you think a specific step could cause some hang-ups in understanding, don’t forget to mention any tips and tricks your students could use to help during their independent practice.
- Horizontal orientation
- Vertical orientation videos do not format well on our website, so we ask that you film all videos horizontally.
- Using a virtual whiteboard tool and screen capture without camera
- We currently cannot accept videos recorded with a camera or that contain camera-generated video (like Zoom) for the safety and privacy of our educators. If you are recording your video on a platform like Zoom, please make sure that you do not have front-facing camera selected in your settings. Otherwise, you are free to use any virtual whiteboard or writing tool. Please remember that we cannot allow screenshots of any questions, textbooks, presentations, or worksheets within your video.
